Campus Access During Commencement Week Ceremonies
Commencement activities begin on Friday, May 15, with school ceremonies starting at 10:30 a.m., and last through Thursday, May 21. View the complete Commencement Week event schedule.
During Class Day ceremonies, the following impacts can be anticipated:
- At times, east-west access across lower campus is expected to be limited. The east-west crossing in front of Butler Library is not available when ceremonies are in progress. In addition, as some school ceremonies formally recess to upper campus, College Walk access may be temporarily closed for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.
- During the processionals, access will be restricted on the South Lawn West perimeter pathway at Lerner Hall. Typically, these temporary closures last less than 30 minutes.
- The entrance to Butler Library is relocated to the library’s east side (near John Jay Hall) from May 15 through May 22. View Butler Library’s building hours during Commencement Week.
Except on Commencement Day (Wednesday, May 20), the Dodge Hall elevator from College Walk and the Kent Hall College Walk entrance will both remain accessible as usual (as a reminder, the Kent Hall entrance is available only during building hours).
Commencement Day Access
On Wednesday, May 20, (University Commencement Day) there are various restrictions in place campus-wide from 6:00 a.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m. Lower campus will be unavailable except to ticketholders and graduating students.
Please contact [email protected] if you encounter disruptions to accessible routes or if you have any questions concerning access during this time. We appreciate your understanding.
