Facilities and Operations electrician Kelvin McAllister was featured on PIX 11 News. The story notes how he has been a reliable presence at Columbia University for nearly four decades, helping to ensure the smooth operation of the University’s lighting systems. Affectionately called “Mr. Light,” the news feature reports on how McAllister is known not only for keeping the lights on but for bringing warmth and positivity wherever he goes.
WPIX also reports on McAllister outside of Columbia, where he is a dedicated mentor to local children through his non-profit organization, Uptown Inner City League. Founded in 1990, Uptown Inner City League offers free co-ed sports programs, like baseball and softball, and provides positive opportunities and guidance for local children. McAllister has mentored hundreds of children since the program’s inception.
Recently, colleagues in Pulitzer Hall came together to honor McAllister for his unwavering positivity and commitment to both Columbia and his local community.
