Winter Break 2025-26 Campus Improvements

Each winter break, Facilities and Operations takes advantage of the reduced campus population to perform work that would otherwise interrupt daily campus life.

Similar to previous years, Facilities and Operations completed a number of projects across the Morningside campus, including residence hall enhancements, classroom refreshes, and restroom upgrades. Highlights of the improvements are outlined below, in alphabetical order by building.

600 W. 113th Street

Installation of new room doors to support the continued rollout of Wi-Fi lock installations

College Walk

Removal of malfunctioning bollards at the Broadway and 116th Street entrance

Repairs of bollards at the Amsterdam and 116th Street entrance 

Campus-wide Custodial Work

Detail cleaning of all classrooms, restrooms, and public spaces

Faculty House

Repairs and restoration of the canopy

Fairchild Hall

Refresh of the 10th floor restroom

International Affairs Building 

Installation of accessible interior doors adjacent to the Pickler Center

Lerner Hall

Installation of new infrastructure to support a new sound system, which will be installed later in 2026

McBain Hall

Installation of new carpeting on floors 2-8

Painting of all corridors, restrooms, and stairwells

Refresh of all kitchens and lounges, including the installation of new electric ovens and stovetops, cabinetry, flooring, and fresh paint

Residential Hall Cleaning Projects

  • Cleaning of corridor carpets
  • Cleaning of showers and restrooms, including replacements of shower curtains
  • Detail cleaning of lounge and computer room

Schermerhorn Hall

Refresh of classroom 415, including the installation of new blackboards, projection screen, ceiling tiles, flooring, and painting

Installation of new chair rails, carpeting, and painting in corridors on floors 1-6

Installation of new tile in stairwells on floors 1-6

William C. Warren Hall

Replacement of the roof

Uris Hall

Refresh of classroom 304, including new carpeting, painting, relamping of light fixtures, and new vent grille covers
