The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning beginning at 11 a.m. today (July 27) through 9 p.m. Friday (July 28). You can stay safe and help Columbia conserve energy by following these simple steps during the heat wave and throughout these hot summer months.

Columbia University has initiated a program to provide free menstrual products in 39 buildings across its three main campuses.

Spring break is not only looked forward to by Columbia's students, but Facilities and Operations as well.  While most are away, Facilities and Operations takes advantage of the reduced campus population to complete a number of projects across campus.

Columbia University Facilities and Operations has completed a pilot program to replace incandescent light bulbs with LED light bulbs in eight campus buildings – comprised of nearly 1.2 million square feet and 11,000 fixtures – to help reduce the University’s energy consumption.

Facilities and Operations would like to remind you that you can help save energy and prevent loss or damage of your property should you be away from campus or home during break and throughout the winter.

Facilities and Operations has developed a new website for its Operations department. The new website provides a collection of information and resources to understand the roles and responsibilities of the Operations team and how to engage their services. While many Columbians may look forward to the summer for a well-deserved break, Facilities and Operations eagerly anticipates it for a different reason - the opportunity to perform a wide range of projects across campus. 

Similar to previous years, Facilities and Operations took advantage of winter and spring break to complete a number of projects on the Morningside campus, including pathway repairs, classrooms improvements, restrooms upgrades, and LED lighting installations.
