KEEPING COLUMBIA RUNNING YEAR ROUND

Operations is responsible for keeping beautiful, functional and safe more than 15.2 million square feet across the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses, Nevis Laboratories and Baker Athletics Complex, comprising all outdoor spaces and 246 buildings.

This includes plant operations campus-wide, which encompasses electrical and fire safety systems as well as those for heating and cooling, plus waste management and recycling programs.

The Operations’ Services Center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year to handle requests for maintenance and other facility-related assistance in the academic, administrative and residential buildings on the Morningside campus.

Roughly 14 tons of waste is generated each year at the Morningside campus. The good news is that figure is dwarfed by the amount of all kinds of materials recycled.

The Events Administration Office supports events of all sizes on the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses, both indoors and outdoors.
